This opal was found in the State of Sonora near Alamos. There's a lot of minerals that can be found in Mexico that are of no real industrial value but have a lot of value among mineral and rock specimen collectors. Small industries are even built around them that help out the local population that have the opportunity to exploit the deposit. A lot of Smithsonite came out of the Choix area of Sinaloa and was highly prized for its' beauty.
